To transform lives by promoting health and the quality of health care; foster good relationship among other Departments, Faculties, Professional bodies, Nursing and Midwifery organization in a healthy work environment;To contribute to general wellbeing and mental/psychiatric health among others.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

PROGRAMMES
A brief description of the available programs of the department
1. The Department is a service Department to the Faculty of Nursing at the first Degree (BNSC) level.
2. Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing is for full time of two (2) semesters, (12months minimum and 24month maximum), and part-time of four(4) semesters (24months minimum and 36months maximum).
3. Master Degree (MSC) in MH/PN shall run for three (3) semester and a maximum of four(4) semesters for full time students; Part-time master’s programme shall run for five(5) semesters minimum and a maximum of eight(8) semesters.
4. M.phil degree shall run for a minimum of 2 semesters after obtaining a master’s degree.
5.Full- time Doctoral progamme shall run for a minimum of six(6)semesters and a maximum of 12 semesters. The Part-time programme shall run for a minimum of ten (10) semesters and maximum sixteen (16) semesters.
