Department of Crop and Soil Science

PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy  of the Department is to train high level manpower that will be equipped with the challenges of a changing Nigeria in the application of science and technology for the welfare of the citizens and agribusiness entrepreneurs in modern techniques of profitable farming and agribusiness enterprise management.

OBJECTIVES

The objective of the Department is to;

 

Produce trained manpower to effectively mobilize the rural communities  for increased agricultural productivity.

 

Engage in production and research that will that will provide relevant and proper solutions to the country’s agricultural and rural development problems and improve agricultural productivity in general.

 

Produce manpower to take up employment anywhere in Nigeria and the world at large in the ares of crop technology and forestry.

 

Produce agriculturist who can skillfully put their skills into operation by establishing and operating their own farming enterprise profitably.

    The Department of NDU Crop/Soil Science Programme offers the following programmes;

  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Crop Production Programme.
  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Crop Protection Programme.
  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Soil Science Programme .
  • Master of Science (MSc.) in Crop Production Programme.
  • Master of Science (MSc.) in Crop Protection Programme.
  • Master of Science (MSc.) in Soil Science Programme.
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)in Crop Production Programme.
