PHILOSOPHY

The Fundamental concern of the Arts related programmes(Humanities) is  with man and his complex nature especially his multifaceted relationships with the world around him  and beyond, it is in this context that each Arts related programme tries to investigate and explain those aspects of man’s nature that particularly concern or challenge him.

The Philosophy of the Department of Arts Education in Niger Delta University is to produce qualified, competent and professional teachers to teach  various Arts related  subjects at the Secondary School Level.

Rationale for the Programmes

The programmes in the Department of Arts Education in the Faculty of Education offer learning experience to undergraduate students in specified areas of instruction. Each programme is aimed at producing manpower to take up teaching positions in learning institutions and other private and public educational agencies. Each programme is further designed in response to the educational demands in Nigeria for qualified and seasoned educationists in the various areas toward meeting the challenges of the 21st century

OBJECTIVES

Specific Objectives of the B. A. Ed. Arts Education Programme

Produce graduate teachers who possess academic and professional training in reading, creative arts, historical analysis and diplomatic relations;

Produce highly motivated, conscientious and efficient teachers who are able to sustain the culture of arts, innovation and cultural heritage;

Train teachers who are conscious of the cultural values of the Nigeria society in relations to other societies; and

Advance the knowledge and ideals of creative minds among teachers for the sustenance of socio-culturalvalues, customs and tradition.
