The Niger Delta University Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBBU), in collaboration with the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), on May 13, 2026, organized a sensitization and enlightenment program on the newly introduced self-service asset declaration system for public officers.
Participants were guided on the proper procedures for completing the 2026 Asset Declaration Form, which now requires documentary evidence for all declared assets, including bank statements, property documents, vehicle papers, share certificates, cooperative statements, loan agreements, and photographs for inherited properties without formal documentation.
Resource persons emphasized accuracy, honesty, and transparency in the declaration process, warning that false declarations or concealment of assets could lead to investigation and prosecution under the law.
The programme also clarified that the declaration exercise will run from May 13 to June 15, 2026, while participants were advised to avoid leaving blank spaces, refrain from using correction fluid, and ensure all information provided is supported with valid documents.
