NDU GOVERNING COUNCIL COMMISERATES WITH BEREAVED COUNCIL MEMBER

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Niger Delta University, Prof. Steven Odi-owei, today, Wednesday, 16th September, 2026, led a delegation of the University's Management and Governing Council on a condolence visit to one of its members, Barr. (Mrs.) Biobelemoye Carles-Onyema, over the demise of her husband, Prince Charles Onyema.

The Pro-Chancellor was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Tonbarapagha Kingdom, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Allen A. Agih, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Jonah Akekere, the Registrar, Dr. Emmanuel Amaegbe, the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Kennedy Brambaifa, and a member of the Governing Council, Barr. Warmate Jones Idikio.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Odi-owei, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff and students of Niger Delta University, expressed deep sadness over the loss. He described the death of Prince Charles Onyema as a painful loss.

He prayed that God Almighty would grant the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.

Responding on behalf of the family, Barr. (Mrs.) Biobelemoye Carles-Onyema thanked the Pro-Chancellor and the entire University community for identifying with her and her family in their moment of grief, describing the visit as comforting.
